KIX 18.32

NEW FUNCTIONS & OPTIMIZATIONS FOR YOUR SERVICE MANAGEMENT

KIX version 18.32 brings with it many new functions and enhancements, including OpenID Connect for simplified authentication, the option to customize KIX and an "Out of Office" function. Version 1.8 of the Field Agent app also comes with new features.

Simple single sign-on login? Now with OpenID Connect!

A simple login is a blessing in a complex working environment. To simplify the login process, KIX now uses the OpenID Connect (OIDC) standard as the identity protocol for access control for agent or self-service portal users.

Keycloak, Gitlab or Active Directory Federational Services (ADFS) can be used flexibly as identity providers (see also: learn.microsoft.com/de-de/entra/identity-platform/v2-protocols-oidc). Accordingly, we have decided not to implement SAML-Auth for the time being. If MS SAML is absolutely necessary, please contact us.

Order is half the battle: The new location explorer for your CMDB

A helpful function has been added to the KIX CMDB:

In future, KIX customers will be able to use the location explorer to understand where which assets are located using a detailed tree view - from the location to the building to individual rooms, everything is listed in detail as well as clearly.

IN FOCUS: SIMPLIFICATION AND CUSTOMIZABILITY

  • Detailed searches can now be saved individually, which saves a significant amount of time and improves usability.
  • To simplify editing processes and avoid incorrect entries, version 18.32 allows attributes in fields to be set to "read only". This reduces incorrect entries and speeds up transaction processing.
  • Checklists are a popular function for transparent mapping and processing of various work processes in KIX. It is now possible to define individual status values for checklists - this greatly benefits flexibility and customizability in service management.
  • With the dynamic "Attachment" field, forms can now request file attachments even without a new article. It is possible to configure which file types are permitted as well as the maximum file size and quantity.
  • In order to display long file names better, the article attachment display can be expanded. Even if brevity is the spice of life, slightly longer file names can sometimes be justified.

SO THAT NOTHING IS LEFT LYING AROUND: THE NEW "OUT OF OFFICE" FUNCTION FOR YOUR SERVICE DESK

Are you or someone in your team on vacation or away from work for a longer period of time?

With "Out of Office", ticket notifications are switched off, which helps to keep your mailbox organized. In addition, a small icon shows all users whether the "Out of Office" function is activated for the respective employee. Clicking on the icon displays the duration of the absence.

To ensure that processes do not remain unprocessed during the absence, they can be unlocked for selected departments. (only department or also individual person)

KIX FIELD AGENT APP WITH NEW FUNCTIONS

The KIX Field Agent app is now available in version 1.8. This applies to both Android and iOS. The iOS release includes the extensions from Android version 1.7.

What has changed?

  • In future, you will be able to upload any files as attachments to your notes. Previously, it was only possible to attach photos from the gallery or directly via the camera.
  • Checklist statuses are no longer limited to the values "OK", "NOK", "pending" and "n.a.", but can be customized.
  • The Field Agent app now enables the entry of offline-compatible form entries for form field types such as single/multi-line text, date and date-time, single/multiple selections and table entries. This means that scenarios that go beyond the processing of checklists, such as material consumption, data collection or other entries, can now be easily mapped. In conjunction with automation jobs, field staff can thus be integrated into complex workflows.
